- The Scheme is in addition to the standard RFU protection which covers all players for up to £0.5 Million for death, loss of limb, eye or permanent disablement.
- It is team-based and will cover all 3 Senior sides for players, linesmen and coaches taking part in games and training in and out of season. Anyone registered as playing at any time is covered.
- Unfortunately, it is not available to students. However, they are still covered by the RFU scheme, NUS membership (and possibly their parents’ Private Health Schemes).
- All participants are covered, regardless of being employed or self-employed, for a payment of £100 per week if off work, without pay, because of a proven rugby injury. Payment starts after a deferment period of 2 weeks and continues until the injured person returns to work or up to a maximum period of 6 weeks.
- For a limited number of self-employed players , the club is prepared to contribute towards a premium for an extra Individual Personal Accident Only policy to which the player can also contribute himself to increase the potential benefit available. The Club’s contribution will itself generate approximately a further £50 per week on top of the basic £100 available to all players. This extra payment usually commencing just 7 days after being off work. With this policy the self-employed player is covered for any accidental injury 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for up to a maximum of 2 years.
- It is mandatory that all players across all 3 teams join the scheme. The club will subsidise 2/3rds of the cost and the balance will be raised by an annual playing subscription of £20 per person due at the beginning of the season.
- The weekly match subscription will run as before and the Playing Committee, in conjunction with individual team Captains, will be responsible for collecting both sets of monies. No “dodgers” will be tolerated.
- To our knowledge, we are the only junior club in our area offering such a support scheme and we hope the enhanced security will greatly benefit our existing players and attract new recruits to Pearcecroft.
- The club has put £2,300 in an account for the purpose of support payments. As per the previous year this has been capped and will be used in accordance with the terms set out in this letter.
- The scheme will be overseen by the Chair of the Playing Committee.
- All potential claims should be reported in the first instance to the Chair of the Playing Committee.
- Doctors notes and proof of not being able to earn during the period will be required in order to review the application for financial support.
- Claims will be authorised by two of the following; the Chairman, President, Treasurer or Chair of Playing Committee.
- Financial Support payments will be paid every two weeks, by cheque from the Treasurer.
- In the event of any dispute, the President will refer the item to the Clubs main Committee who will determine the final outcome. No further discussion or debate will be entered in to.
- NB: This scheme is only applicable to players who are sponsored or have paid their annual subscription.
